Libretto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Konstantin Shilovsky based on the verse novel by Alexander Pushkin

Eugene Onegin by P. Tchaikovsky, a masterpiece of Russian opera, appeared in a new production on the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi Theater.

The author of the new embodiment of the opera is the director Eugene Arie, who now lives and works in Israel.

This is not the first experience of a famous director on a famous stage. In 2017, Eugene Arie staged “The Idiot” by M. Weinberg at the Bolshoi Theater.

A large team of professionals worked on the new production of “Eugene Onegin”.
The conductor of the performance is Tugan Sokhiev. Scenographer is Semyon Shepherd.

Costume Designer - Galina Solovyova.
Lighting designer for the - Damir Ismagilov.

Explaining his concept of a new production of the opera, Eugene Arie considers it possible to achieve more acute characters through an ironic and lively way of looking at them.
This will help to get rid of the prevailing stamps. Eugene Arie says that it is very important for him and Semen Shepherd, that this story begins in the village.
