The Government InspectorRelevance and topicality of the text is clear, because the sharp-edge of the Gogol’s satire is directed in the very heart of the people, whose nature still stays the same in spite of centuries have passed through. The writer submits to the viewer the whole body of public vices, including stupidity, money-grubbing, bribery, servility, embezzlement, but the worst of all evil, of course, is a corruption, which has penetrated all spheres of life.
There are many ways to fight the vices of society, but one of the most effective ways has always been laughter. He disarms, plunges into a stupor, but, ultimately, always cleanses human’s soul.
